There are several options – sleeves with gathering or not – the front gather or without. It’s one of those tops that will become a wardrobe staple and will look totally different with every different pattern.
I decided to do my first one in a thick jersey I had bought in a sale last year. It’s quite thick and actually has a bit less stretch than I had thought. When I sewed it up it was actually a lot more structured than the toile I had done in a stretchier jersey. However the pattern is drafted so well that it just fits like a glove.
I’m really pleased with it. I cut a size 4 (it turns out I think that’s what I am in all Tilly patterns) and the only alterations I had to make is to take quite a bit off the sleeve hem and I took about 1.5 inch off the bottom. I wanted it to sit just over the top of a pair of jeans without rising up and just so you can tuck it into a skirt. This top would look great with a black chord Arielle that is also in the sewing queue!
Now that i have my pattern pieces cut it’s going to be so easy to whip these up in lots of different styles. I’ll need a thinner jersey for the honeymoon as it’s going to be quite warm.
